Current ProjectsThe Derek Bailey Foundation have now agreed to help with a near by community in Gunjur with their project on the prevention of Malaria. Background Gunjur is a large coastal fishing and farming town on the Atlantic Coast of the Gambia. It has a population of about 15,000 inhabitants and like the rest of the country, majority of the population are under the age of 30. Gunjur has a health centre, a primary school, a secondary school, a market and three nursery schools. It is located 45 Kilometres or 30 minutes drive from Banjul, the Capital of the Gambia and also Senegambia, the main Tourist area. The main activity in Gunjur is fishing and farming, which provides employment and livelihood for majority of the population.
It will start with a baseline survey through out Gunjur to determine: We are currently working in partnership with Gunjur Sartay Kafo, a legally registered Non Government Organisation in The Gambia. Our Partners head a team of like minded Gambians who are prepared to invest their leisure time freely helping the people of Gunjur to help them selves and their community in the improvement of the environment thus helping with the prevention of Malaria.
